Counseling

Hello Franklin Families,

I am Stacey O’Brien, your school counselor.

The role of the school counselor is to support all students in their social growth. This includes fostering the development of skill building in areas including: conflict resolution, recognizing and managing one’s own feelings and behaviors, effectively using coping skills, and demonstrating empathy, compassion, and personal responsibility.

All Franklin students’ needs are met through our multi-tiered systems of supports (MTSS).

In the counseling department, MTSS looks like:

  • Targeted Classroom Lessons
  • Small Group Counseling
  • Individual Student Counseling and/or check-in’s
  • 504 Monitor
  • Parent Consultation and Support – Please visit our district’s website for resources https://www.lwsd.org/help/community-resources

Students also receive regular social emotional lessons from their home room teachers. Our adopted curriculum for SEL lessons is Second Step. More information on Second Step can be found at https://www.secondstep.org/families

If you have any questions, email Stacey O'Brien at staobrien@lwsd.org
