Technology

Franklin Elementary is dedicated to helping our students prepare for the future by integrating technology into our daily routine. Not only do teachers use SMART Boards to deliver multi-media lessons, document cameras, and classroom microphone systems, students have access to computers beyond the computer lab. Students use netbooks in the classrooms on a daily basis. This gives students an opportunity to research and complete projects that they would not otherwise be able to use. By the time students leave Franklin, they are experienced in programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, Publisher, Outlook and many others. This also allows teachers a fantastic tool to provide differentiation opportunities for students of all ages and abilities.

Because technology is changing so quickly, students have access to more online resources than ever before. As a result, we are committed to teaching our kids responsible and safe digital citizenship practices. Students learn how to identify useful and safe online sources for research, how to protect their personal information, and how to effectively communicate through email. Going forward, students will also have increasing opportunities for online teamwork using secure blogs, discussion boards, class wiki pages, and much more.
